Strategic alliance between Specialty Products Consultants and XS Inc.

RALEIGH, NC (October 10, 2005): Specialty Products Consultants, LLC (SPC) and XS Inc. are pleased to announce the formation of a strategic alliance to jointly develop and market a new generation of market research products for manufacturers and distributors serving the specialty (non-crop) pesticide markets. The initial product, to be marketed under the name SPCexpress, will use point-of-sale transaction level data to track in-season movement of prices paid by pest control operators, lawn care operators, golf course superintendents, and others for their specialty pesticide purchases. The web-based system will allow manufacturers and distributors to query aggregated pricing reports by product name or active ingredient, filtering by geography and date range.

SPCexpress is being developed to meet client's needs for transaction-based research that offers end-user pricing on a real-time basis. The specialty pesticide market is extremely competitive. Pesticide values have deteriorated over the last few years, and are likely to decline further as more post-patent products enter the market. Our goal is to provide real-time data that sales and marketing executives can use to make sound product pricing decisions. The SPCexpress price tracking component will nicely compliment SPC's syndicated market research studies.

XS Inc. has developed leading edge data collection, processing and reporting technology capable of delivering web-based solutions to support the needs. For several years XS Inc. has a proven record of successfully implemented this technology in the agrichemical and seed businesses. A crucial aspect of the point-of-sale data collection process is the manner in which millions of end-user transactions, from multiple distributors is standardized, and then aggregated to protect the anonymity of participating distributors and their customers.

The alliance is a natural fit for SPC and XS since it blends together the point-of-sale data collection and reporting technology from XS with SPC's demonstrated market research capabilities in the specialty markets to deliver the next generation of specialty chemical market tracking studies.
